Lesson Activity: Word Art Poster

Use the same stock image above as a background and practice your skills using different fonts that you already have or that you find online.  You can find free fonts at: Dafont.com.  Just be sure to select fonts that are in the public domain or that give 100% free use as explained in the video.

Daily Activity Challenge: Every day for the following week practice Typography (Word Art) in a new document.  The size is not very important at this time unless you want to share the image online or use it in print.  If you want to share it online then consider using 1000×1000 but if you want to use it for printing purposes (like a small poster size then try using 4500×4500 pixels or larger).

Consider browsing through Google images for inspiration and ideas.  Use smart key words such as: inspirational bible verse posters or hope inspirational posterBe very careful what keywords you use because they may give you very bad image results and a lot of regret.  If you use Bible and Inspirational as one of your key words in your search you’ll have much better, safer image results.

Try using different background images and colors in each new poster you make.  Consider using family photos as well.  Baby photos, wild life and emotional people pictures are wonderful for Typography backgrounds as well.  Be sure to save each new poster with a new name using the Photoshop file format (psd) and a jpg copy so that you can share your results online or for printing purposes.

Most importantly, have fun!
